Diagnose your own Peugeot
You can diagnose your Peugeot yourself. A Peugeot fault (DTC) can be discovered with one of our diagnostic fault code readers. You can scan your car for fault codes at any time and place. This way you can find the cause of your problem and fix it. Afterwards, the codes can be erased with the reading device.
Peugeot diagnostic equipment
Scantools developed specifically for Peugeot are called brand-specific tools. A Peugeot specific scantool has the great advantage of being able to read all the modules and controls present in the car. Thus, both broad and deep diagnosis can be done. Besides the OBD2 engine management, other systems can also be read out, such as ABS, airbags, transmission, air conditioning, lighting, etc. Older cars equipped with an OBD1 connection can also be read out. An example of a Peugeot brand specific fault code reader is the PSA-com interface.
Universal diagnostic equipment
There are many types of universal diagnostic devices available on the market that function on your Peugeot. A universal OBD scanner can only be used on cars with an OBD2 compatible connection. With a universal reader you are able to read almost any brand of car. Unlike a brand-specific reader, a universal reader can only read the OBD2 (engine management). A very well-known and widely used brand is Autel diagnostic equipment. They are known for their very well developed and affordable universal scanners.
Peugeot OBD2 and OBD1
In the 1990s, the first Peugeot models were equipped with ECUs. This meant that Peugeot's could be read for trouble codes. For OBD1, there was not yet a standard that cars had to meet. Thus, each brand could develop its own diagnostic plug. There were also no guidelines for OBD1 fault codes. Thus, most car brands worked with their own codes. The OBD was developed further. Thus, it was decided that cars delivered in Europe should be equipped with a standard OBD2 16-pin diagnostic plug. This happened in 2001 for gasoline vehicles and in 2004 for diesel vehicles. With OBD2, fault codes are also standardized. You can contact us for both Peugeot OBD1 readers and OBD2 readers.
Wireless dongle to read your Peugeot
Nowadays the threshold is very low to start diagnose your Peugeot yourself. Wireless diagnostics of your Peugeot is within reach. With a Bluetooth dongle, you are able to diagnose and scan your Peugeot wirelessly via your phone or tablet. All you need to do is purchase a wireless dongle, install an app on your phone or tablet and connect. This allows you to easily diagnose your Peugeot's engine management and track other data.
