Service reset
Resetting the service interval light is easy to achieve with a good OBD2 scan tool. Different equipment is available for different brands of cars. Resetting the service interval in modern cars is often a bit more difficult and you need special equipment, read more about this here.
Perform a ervice reset
In modern cars equipped with OBD2, the service interval must often be reset in the CAN-Bus system. It is important to choose the right scan tool or interface. The latest iCarsoft error code readers are equipped with the option to reset the engine light, service interval and oil light. If you are looking for a device that can reset multiple brands, the Foxwell i70 or Autel MaxiCheck MX808 is a good alternative, these scan tools have broad support for almost all brands.
Oil light
Resetting the oil light is a different functionality than resetting the service interval (maintenance light). Not all equipment that can reset the service interval can also reset the oil interval. It is therefore important to see which scan tool or interface meets your needs. It is often difficult to reset the oil light or maintenance light on Fiat Chrysler Group / Stellantis cars. Engine light
Often, resetting the engine light (MIL) is confused with a service or oil reset. The engine management light can actually be reset with almost all OBD2 scanners or error code readers. So you don't need any specialist equipment for this. In fact, all equipment that can reset oil and/or service also has functionality on board to reset the engine light.
